Tobias Egner received his B.Sc. in Psychology (1999) and Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience (2002) from the University of London, before conducting postdoctoral research at Columbia University and Northwestern University. He joined Duke University in 2009, where he is a Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience. Dr. Egner uses psychophysics, neuroimaging, neurostimulation, and modeling approaches to enhance our understanding of the cognitive and neural mechanisms of cognitive control, the use of internal goals to guide perception and action
